Danika Davis Chief Executive Officer

Danika is an HR evangelist who has dedicated her career to creating thriving organizations and advancing the HR profession. With a 25-year track record of success leading organizations in a variety of industries and sizes in both HR and chief executive roles, her focus at Merit is optimizing client service, building strategic relationships and expanding business capabilities.

Prior to joining the team in February 2015, Danika was CEO of the San Francisco-based Northern California HR Association, the second largest HR professional society in the nation, for ten years. In addition to experience as a chief executive, she has a long history as an HR executive, with expertise in all areas of HR including organizational effectiveness and design, talent acquisition/management, total rewards and recognition, leadership development, labor negotiations and strategic alignment.

She earned a master’s degree in organizational management from Fielding Graduate University as well as a B.A. from the University of the Pacific with a double major in English and communications (public relations). Danika holds multiple HR certifications and belongs to a variety of professional associations.

A foodie and wine aficionado, Danika is a proud mother of two and spends her free time seeing live music and traveling.

Anne Hausler, PHR, CIR, SHRM-CP Director, Client Services

Since joining Merit Resource Group in 2000, Anne has played a significant role in expanding the company’s reach and reputation within our multiple markets. Anne is lead of service delivery operations, driving the development and execution of Merit’s staffing, search and consulting services.

Anne’s management and human resources experience comes through the retail and insurance industries. She also has extensive experience in operations, sales and accounting, and before coming to Merit held manager positions with Aon Risk Services and Nordstrom.

She serves on the board of directors of Ignited (formerly IISME, Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education), and is a Mentor and Professional Network Career Advisor at San Jose State University’s College of Business.

Anne has a B.S. in business management and an HR Generalist Certification, both from San Jose State University as well as holding HR certification through the Human Resources Certification Institute.

When Anne’s not working, she’s enjoying time with her family and participating in the community. She’s also an avid gardener and dedicated pilates enthusiast.

Haroon Ansary Sr. Recruiting Manager

Our newest team member, Haroon has a long and successful career in the staffing industry as both a Client Services and Program Manager, working with organizations such as Tesla, ESPN, Chase Bank, Disney, Kaiser Permanente & Starbucks to maintain their successful corporate operations, through account management and full-cycle recruitment.

Haroon is the chief candidate concierge and focuses on recruiting new talent to our network as well as fostering relationships with existing talent and clients.

Haroon has a bachelor’s in graphic design from San Jose State University, and an associate degree in fine arts.

An artist, Haroon works in multiple mediums and visits museums whenever possible. He also enjoys cooking, spending time with family and discovering new wines.

John Haffner Manager of Administration & IT

John joined Merit in 1996 and is responsible for much of Merit’s day-to-day internal operations, including computing systems, database administration and development, Web administration, technical support, accounting, payroll, benefits, and governmental compliance.

As systems administrator, he has contributed significantly to the development of our systems infrastructure.

He held several positions at Citibank before joining Merit. John earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Pepperdine University.

John is a husband and father of four, an avid SF Giants fan, a photographer and a coffee aficionado. Much of his free time is dedicated to church activities.

Sue Merone Administrative Coordinator

Sue is the backbone of our operation, where all Merit team member roles intersect. She supports our candidate care and client satisfaction initiatives as well as serving as the primary point of contact for payroll, benefits and recordkeeping functions.

Sue brings several years of recruiting experience in both staffing and internal talent acquisition roles as well as a strong work history in accounting and administrative support functions.

Sue is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a minor in psychology from St. Thomas University.

An avid traveler whose most recent adventure was South East Asia, Sue also enjoys cooking and reading.

Brian Gauny Principal

Brian joined Merit Resource Group in 1990 as one of the firm’s original employees and has held every role in the organization. As a principal and owner, Brian serves on the company’s board of directors.

He has broad knowledge of HR systems and programs, with hands-on experience in many human resources disciplines, including employment, employee relations, labor, safety and risk management. Prior to joining Merit, Brian was Manager of Human Resources for Prescolite/USI Lighting, Inc., a division of Hanson Industries.

Brian has a B.A. in psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, with additional course work in human resources and labor relations at the University of Michigan Business School and the University of California, Berkeley.

Brian is an outdoors enthusiast with a particular passion for sailing and golf in the company of friends and family.

Rod Hanna Principal

Rod is a principal and owner of Merit, serving on the board of directors. He is responsible for the company’s marketing and corporate communications.

Prior to joining Merit in 1992, his broad corporate and professional experience was developed through more than 20 years with AT&T in state, regional, and national/corporate positions. This experience included managing and directing human resources functions, as well as public/employee and news media relations.

He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism at Columbia, and has completed executive development programs in organization, marketing, and mass communications through the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, Boston University and Colorado State University.

Rod is an accomplished woodworker and jazz buff who also enjoys hiking, photography and reading.
